Bring Frigo – public transport for food – our environmental strength!
Bring Frigo is, to a large extent, a public transport system for temperature-regulated foods. Our customers buy pallet positions for their goods flow in a given temperature range –much like buying a seating reservation on a bus.
Our transport system is well filled – we average an occupancy rate of 90% on our main routes, and 70% if we also include loading and unloading. This is our environmental strength!
Bring Frigo’s dependence on trucks – our environmental challenge!
Time is a critical factor for the temperature-regulated fresh merchandise we carry. Goods with an extremely short shelf life
must quickly be available to the consumer – a day late and their ‘consume by’ window may have expired.
The transport mode that has the greatest flexibility and responds best to these requirements is trucking. Frigo’s logistics solutions are often highly dependent on the truck and its high flexibility.
Our environmental challenge in the future is to work with our customers to find sustainable solutions for the supply of temperature-regulated food. It is a major challenge, and one that we meet with declared a vision to provide completely fossil-fuel-free shipments in 2025.
New trends call for environmentally friendly transport
Longer transport distances for fresh food, traffic on German motorways, environmental- and transport politics are all factors
that drive the further development of sea and rail transport. It also affects Bring Frigo’s choice of vehicles – it is no
longer self-evident that trucking is the best choice. With our intermodal transportation, for example, we can lift trailers
onto trains for the major part of their journey. Where available, we can choose alternative fuels. Currently, this repositioning
is being carried out mainly on our international transport, but we shall continue on all fronts, and at both the micro and
macro level.
